Picking the Location

The geographic location to be mined is identified and analysed. This process is extremely complex and requires expertise cutting across domains. Globally, less than 1 in 1000 of evaluated sites turn out to be productive mines and only around 10% of deposits are sufficient enough to make mining feasible.

Mining & Treatment

The gold-bearing rock is mined, washed in water and treated with chemicals through a series of leaching tanks, where cyanide is used as the most common solvent in combination with oxygen, in a process called carbon-in-pulp. Pure gold is extracted from a furnace at a temperature of 1,064 °C. Gold has an incredibly high boiling point (2,856 °C) and is used to make thin gold coatings and finds application in electronics, medicine and space industries.

Processing & Conversion

These nuggets are processed in refineries and converted into pure bars. The gold is treated with chloride which removes some of the remaining impurities. The gold is cast into electrodes and electricity is made to pass through it. The end result is 999.9 rated gold of world class quality.
